FPA is implementing an automated query system for reporters looking for comments from financial advisors. The system will be open for Media Trained members only – those that have participated in media training in the past and are listed on the FPA database as Media Trained.

If you would like to start receiving notifications when reporters need a financial advisor source, Media Training will be available to members during our Fall Social on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. The training program will be conducted by FPA Director of Communications Ben Lewis and covers the essentials in working with journalists, including:

• How to Pitch story ideas to reporters;
• What you need to do to prepare for interviews;
• How you can improve interview performance;
• The tactics for ensuring you maintain a great reputation with reporters;
• Representing FPA and the organizational messages;
• and more!

Members of print media and TV news will be on hand to answer questions and pick our brains. This is your chance to become a “go to” source for local and national journalists. At the end, attendees will be able to more effectively approach media relations for their own business and will have the opportunity to sign the Media Participation Agreement to receive the reporter notifications.

Afterwards there will be a chapter networking social. We'll provide the appetizers and the first round is on us. After that, it's a cash bar. We provide the relaxed atmosphere, you provide the good conversation.
