Economic Forecast 2016



FPA of Northeast Florida will again be hosting a leading independent forum on major economic, geo political and financial market matters. Key issues will be discussed and debated and our panelists will give their opinions and predictions for 2016.

Reserve Early - No Walk-ins or Last Minutes Reservations Accepted. Due to security measures at the Federal Reserve Bank facility, all reservations must be received one-week prior to the event. Attendees will be asked to go through the security check point when entering the building.

Roman Cech, PhD
Florida State College at Jacksonville

Dr. Roman Cech is Professor of Economics at Florida State College in Jacksonville. He received his economics education in Europe and in the United States.

After graduating from Economics University in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1987, Dr. Cech was an assistant professor of economics there for four years. After the fall of communism in Czechoslovakia, he received a Fulbright fellowship and spent one year as a visiting professor at the University of Virginia in 1991. He stayed at UVA as a graduate student and instructor of economics and earned his M.A. in 1995 and Ph.D. in 2001.

Between 2001 and 2003 Dr. Cech worked in Germany. As a member of the German Advisory Group, he advised the government of Ukraine on macroeconomic reforms of tax system, social security and budget. In 2003 Dr. Cech returned to the United States and held academic positions at Longwood University in Virginia and most recently at Florida State College in Jacksonville.




Christopher L. Oakley
Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta

Christopher L. Oakley is vice president and regional executive of the Jacksonville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. He is responsible for the Branch's Board of Directors and the District's Advisory Council on Trade and Transportation, oversees Jacksonville's economic and financial education programs, and provides regional input into the Atlanta Fed's monetary policy process.

Mr. Oakley is involved in a number of community activities, including taking positions on the Florida Council on Economic Education, the Business Leadership Network, and the United Way. He also serves on the District Diversity Steering Group, the Financial Update Editorial Board, and the District's Talent Leadership Committee.

He joined the Jacksonville Branch in 1988 as a management intern in the Cash Services Department and has held various management positions, including operational and administrative oversight in cash services, payment services, and human resources. Mr. Oakley was promoted to financial services director in 1992 and then to assistant vice president in 1996. He was named assistant branch manager in 1997 and vice president and branch manager in 2002, and previously was responsible for branch support services, law enforcement, cash services, check processing, and check adjustments.
A native of Hendersonville, NC, and raised in Dalton, GA, Mr. Oakley received his bachelor's degree in management and a certificate in industrial and organizational psychology from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has also participated in the executive education curriculum at the University of Virginia and the Federal Reserve System's Senior Officer Development program, as well as the New York Federal Reserve's Central Banking Seminar.
