Session 1: Challenging Traditional Bond Analytics to Reduce Risk with Sean Dranfield, AIF®, PT Asset Management

This session reviews the traditional metrics used to analyze fixed income investments and their limitations. Will explore an alternative to these metrics that addresses these shortcomings, scenario based total return analysis.

Tim Urbanowicz, CFA, Invesco PowerShares
 
This session reviews the current fixed income market environment, shares a case study showing the performance of high yield ETFs in stressed markets, covers recent trends in institutional usage of fixed income ETFs and offers a glimpse of the likely direction of Fixed Income ETF product development going forward.

Sean Dranfield, AIF®
Managing Director
PT Asset Management, LLC

Sean is responsible for the leadership and management of PTAM's fast growing mutual fund business.

Formerly, Sean founded and was President of Henderson Global Funds for 12 years. Sean oversaw the growth of the business from inception to what today is one of the leading global fund families in the US. Prior to this, Sean lived in London for over a decade and was responsible for the management of Henderson Global Investors' international businesses in North America, continental Europe and Asia. Henderson is one of the largest asset managers in Europe. Sean has lived in Singapore, Paris, Bahrain and Glasgow during his 25 years in the asset management industry and prior to this as a strategic management consultant for Booz Allen specializing in business strategy for the global financial services industry.
Sean graduated from Concordia University (Montreal, Canada) with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance. He is Series 6, 26, and 65 registered and is an AIF® designee.



Tim Urbanowicz currently serves as ETF Capital Markets Strategist for Invesco PowerShares Capital Management LLC, a registered investment adviser that sponsors the PowerShares family of exchangetraded funds (ETFs). In his current role, Tim works with investment banks, trade desks, market makers, proprietary trading groups, and other institutions that are instrumental in providing liquidity in the global ETF market. In addition, Tim aids buy-side clients on ETF trading and educates them on best practices for sourcing ETF liquidity and execution. Tim is host to the PowerShares Capital Markets video series and co-author of The ETF Toolkit: The Professional’s Guide to ETFs.

Previously, Tim served as a Regional Sales Consultant helping financial advisors, portfolio managers and financial institutions incorporate PowerShares ETFs into their portfolios. Prior to joining Invesco PowerShares, Tim was an Investment Representative with JP Morgan Chase as part of a wealth management team servicing the needs of high net worth individuals.

Tim earned a B.A in Business and Economics from Wheaton College (IL) and holds the Series 6, 7 and 63 registrations. Tim is a CFA® Charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of Chicago.
